Mumbai-based National Award Winning author Aabid Surti, who among many other things is also an incisive environmentalist and accomplished artist, is back in full force. The author of many bestselling books, some of which have even courted controversy, has revisited one of his autobiographical tomes titled 'Sufi – The Invisible Man of The Underworld' and updated it to make it more current. Sriram Raghavan, Shridhar Raghavan and Annie Zaidi were present at the launch.

“Sufi,” begins Surti, “is the story of two boys who grew up in the 60s and 70s’ Mumbai’s infamous Dongri area. The first of them, Iqbal Rupani rises through the ranks to crown himself underworld kingpin, on one hand, and becomes extremely pious, on the other hand. While he through his puritan stance becomes well-known as ‘Sufi’, the story catches up with the other boy-turned-man, Aabid Surti, that’s me as well,” avers the master story-teller with a smile.  

The real story of the two boys who start at the same line and then flow so divergently away in life, is one of massive scale and told by one of India’s beloved wordsmiths. “The changes have been made to make the story flow better, and to edit out dated legal information,” Surti informs.

Speaking about Surti, popular filmmaker Sriram Raghavan states, "As I got pulled into the book I wondered if all that he was saying was fiction or could it be real? It actually felt like a fascinating Eastman colour movie that he had mounted."

Well-loved scriptwriter Shridhar Raghavan said that he has known Surti since he was 8 years old. "When I first met him he was the 40 year old creator of Bahadur and I was a fascinated 8 year old, and today the tables have turned. I am a 40 year old while he feels like an energetic 8 year old."

Mentioning that he seared through the book yesterday in a single seating, he exults how Sufi is "a fascinating chronicle of a Bombay of prohibition and gold smuggling, of Haji Mastan growing up and Dawood, still a toddler." 

Noted writer Annie Zaidi says simply that, "I started reading Sufi yesterday and it's completely unputdownable."

मिलिए मनोरंजन के ज़रिए समाज के उत्थान में यकीं रखनेवाले उद्यमी अजय हरिनाथ सिंह से

जब बात हो सिंह ऐंड सन्स की, तो उद्यमिता और उदारता का अनोखा संगम देखने को मिलता है और हालिमें इनके सर और एक ताज चढा जब कंपनी के युवा  प्रतिभावान वंशज अजय हरिनाथ सिंह को टाइम्स पावर मैन और यंग आइकॉनिक आंत्रप्योनोर अवॉर्ड्स से नवाज़ा गया। 

अजय हरिनाथ सिंह कहते हैं कि, "लम्बे समय तक नेटफ़्लिक्स (अमेरिका) के‌ राजीव, झी५ की रेशमी और ज़ी एंटरटेनमेंट से उनकी कंपनी के बढ़िया संबंध रहे हैं। ऐसे में अब हम चीन, कोरिया, जापान, चेक रिपब्लिक, जॉर्जिया में पैर पसारने के लिए प्रेरित हुए हैं। इसके अलावा, हम भारत और विदेशों में भी फ़िल्मसिटी की स्थापना, डिजिटल डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन प्लेटफॉर्म के विस्तार की कोशिशों में लगे हुए हैं।"

देश के एक बेहद शक्तिशाली परिवारों में से एक से ताल्लुक होने‌ के बावजूद अजय हरिनाथ सिंह ने विभिन्न कंपनियों में काम किया। भारतीय उद्यमिता के प्रति अपनी भूख को सामने लाते हुए उन्होंने डारविन प्लेटफॉर्म ग्रुप ऑफ़ कंपनीज़ की स्थापना की, जिसमें प्राथमिक रूप से तेल, MiG और एयरक्राफ़्ट सेवा और अन्य हथियारों के बाने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। कंपनी ने‌ जल्द ही बैंकिंग, फ़ार्मास्युटिकल्स, फ़ाइनांस, खनन, सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी, हवाई सवाओं स्वास्थ्य संबंधी क्षेत्रों में ख़ुद को स्थापित कर लिया। फ़िलहाल अजय हरिनाथ सिंह डारविन प्लेटफॉर्म समूह के मालिक है और कंपनी पर ९६% मालिकाना हक़ उनका है।

रशियन इंटरनैशनल फ़ैमिली फ़िल्म्स फ़ेस्टिवल  की जूरी के सदस्य, डार्विन प्लेटफॉर्म ग्रुप ऑफ़ कंपनीज़ (DPGC) के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक हरिनाथ सिंह ने दो न्यूज़ मीडिया में निवेश किया है जबकि वो भारत के टॉप ५ फ़िल्म प्रोडक्शन हाउस में से दो का बड़ा आर्थिक आधार हैं। जिनमें कुल ४३ फ़िल्मों का समावेश हैं। इनमें से तीन फ़िल्में ऐसी रही हैं, जिनका शुमार भारत की तीन सबसे महंगी फ़िल्मों में होता है। वो अब ख़ुद ही मुख्यधारा के व्यवसायिक कंटेट के निर्माण के क्षेत्र में कदम रखने जा रहे हैं, जिससें सिनेमा, टीवी, वेब के लिए कंटेट का निर्माण शामिल है। इसके लिए वे ख़ुद ही एक मीडिया हाउस खोलने‌ जा रहे हैं जिसके प्रमुख हैं DPGC ग्रुप सीओओ डॉ. फ़रहाद विजय अरोड़ा जो फ़िल्म स्टार विजय अरोड़ा और पूर्व मिस इंडिया दिलबर दिबेरा के बेटे भी हैं।

फ़िलहाल उनका प्रोडक्शन हाउस 'द राइज़ ऑफ़ मंगोल' नामक फ़िल्म बनाने जा रहा है, जो अभी निर्माण स्टेज में है। ये तीन हिस्सों में चंगेज़ ख़ान पर बननेवाली बायोपिक है, जिन्हें इतिहास का सबसे बड़ा मुगल बादशाह माना जाता था। इस बहुभाषी फिल्म को हिंदी, अंग्रेजी, तमिल, तेलुगू और अन्य भाषाओं में भी रिलीज़ किया जाएगा। इसके अलावा, समानांतर सिनेमा‌ कि श्रेणी में आनेवाली फ़िल्में भी रिलीज़ के लिए तैयार हैं जिनमें तेरा क्या होगा लम्बोदर, अज़ीजन और वॅलेट पार्किंग का शुमार है। कंपनी कंगना राणावत स्टारर धाकड़ के निर्माण को लेकर भी विचार कर रही है जो २०२० में दीवाली के मौके पर रिलीज़ की जाएगी। इसके अलावा तीन और फ़िल्में भी प्री-प्रोडक्शन स्टेज पर हैं जिनके नाम‌ हैं रिक्शा, लेडी लक और एंड-योर-एक्स। डॉ. फ़रहाद विजय अरोड़ा कहते हैं, "उचित तरीके का मनोरंजन लोगों को प्रेरित और उन्हें ख़ुश‌ करने का सही माध्यम है। इससे न सिर्फ़ देश के जनता की भलाई होती है, बल्कि ये देश की प्रगति और मानवता के विकास में अपना अहम योगदान देता है।"

 DPGC ग्रुप के‌‌‌ सीएफ़ओ हरेश महापात्रा का कहना है, "सामाजिक-आर्थिक दृष्टि से हम भारतीय मनोरंजन जगत के होलिस्टिक ग्रोथ की संभावनाएं देख रहे हैं, जिसका विस्तार एक संगठित और सुरक्षित इंडस्ट्री के रूप में किया जाएगा। इससे न सिर्फ़ रोज़गार के अवसर बढ़ेंगे, बल्कि नई प्रतिभाओं को भी उभरने का मौका‌ मिलेगा। इस तरह से तमाम लोगों का मनोरंजन होगा और उन्हें ख़ुश रखने में सफलता भी मिलेगी, जिसका‌ सकारात्मक परिणाम भारत के जीडीपी‌ पर भी देखने को मिलेगा।"

डारविन प्लेटफॉर्म ग्रुप की सभी १९ कंपनियां सार्वजनिक रूप से लिस्टेड कंपनियां हैं और ये समूह शुरू से ही एक ऋण-विहीन समूह रहा है। इसका कुल टर्नओवर ४१००० करोड़ रुपये है। कंपनी‌ की मौजूदगी हॉलीवुड, बॉलीवुड और रूसी फ़िल्मों में है। उल्लेखनीय है कि डारविन प्लेटफॉर्म मास मीडिया का कुल टर्नओवर २८९ करोड़ रुपये है। कंपनी का मक़सद किफ़ायती दामों पर एंटरटेनमेंट इंडस्ट्री को फ़ायनांस मुहैया कराना है ताक़ि ऐसा कर‌के वो अच्छे कंटेट के निर्माण में  सहयोग प्रदान करना चाहते हैं।

DPGC ग्रुप के सीईओ राहुल गणपुले कहते हैं, "DPGC के‌ आने से‌ सभी सेक्टर‌ में बड़े पैमाने‌ पर बदलाव देखने को मिलेगा। कंपनी‌ के पास बेहद अनुभवी लीगल टीम भी है, जिसके नेतृत्व की कमान है रोहित जैन और गौरव जैन के हाथों में। इस कंपनी‌ में मानद सदस्य के रूप में सुप्रीम कोर्ट के दो सेवानिवृत्त जज बतौर सलाहकार अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे हैं, तो वहीं हाई कोर्ट के तीन जज भी सलाहकार की हैसियत से रखे गयें हैं।" उल्लेखनीय है कि डारविन प्लेटफॉर्म और सरकारी परियोजनाओं से जुड़े सेक्टर की ज़िम्मेदारी मोहम्मद अनवर बावला पर है। डायवर्सिफ़ाइड आईटी व सेल्स टीम‌ की बागडोर दीपक जांगरा, शिव चरण और राकेश विश्वकर्मा के हाथों में है।

ग़ौरतलब है कि हाल ही के दिनों में अजय हरिनाथ सिंह ने कई सामाजिक कार्यों के लिए भी ख़ासा वक्त दिया है, जिसमें देश और विदेश दोनों जगहों पर ऐसे कार्यों को अंजाम देना शामिल है। अजय हरिनाथ सिंह कहते हैं, "इतनी‌ कामयाबी हासिल करने के बाद भी मेरी ख़ुशी इस बात में है कि मैं समाज के उत्थान और उसकी ख़ुशहाली में किसी तरह सहयोग कर सकूं।" समाज कार्य के रूप में ज़रूरतमंदों तक खाना पहुंचाने के लिए 'द अजय हरिनाथ सिंह फ़ाउंडेशन' (AHSF) की स्थापना भारत में की गयी ताक़ि बेसहारा और लाचार लोगों को भूखा न सोना‌ पड़े। इसने अपने‌ फ़ूड किचन्स अब लंदन (यूके) और फ़िलेडेल्फ़िया (अमेरिका) जैसे देशों में भी खोल लिये हैं। इनके ज़रिए ३००० ज़रूरमंद लोगों तक शाकाहारी भोजन पहुंचाया जाता है। इसके अलावा, कॉर्पोरेट सोशल रेस्पॉन्सिबिलिटी के तहत डारविन ग्रुप ब्रांच ने‌ विशेष योजना के तहत लातूर (महाराष्ट्र) और भुज (गुजरात) में कम क़ीमत पर अस्पताल बनाने में कामयाबी हासिल की। २५० करोड़ रुपये की निधि इकट्ठा करनेवाले इन अस्पतालों का उद्देश्य कम आयवाले परिवारों को गुणवत्तापूर्ण और कम ख़र्च में हासिल की जानेवाली स्वास्थ्य सेवाएं उपलबद्ध कराना है।

Veteran singer Sudesh Bhosale launched his dream project, Gravity Studios, a feature-rich recording studio alongside a live room, along with the music launch of the film “ULTE”. The story is about a common villager, who is the butt of everyone’s jokes for his upstanding character. The story picks steam when he finds out about bogus voters and decides to expose this wrong-doing. The route he takes and the hurdles he crosses in this mission forms the crux of the film, which is treated in a light-hearted comic manner…
